All of us have aspirations – for ourselves, for our families, and for our neighbourhood. I have lived and worked in Wimborne since 1987 and have a strong empathy with my fellow residents. As a people, our biggest concern is that our needs are addressed professionally and efficiently. After talking with you during my time as Wimborne Mayor and as a Town Councillor, there are three areas which concern me most.

In terms of Policing, I accept that serious crime is relatively low in the district but it's the "non serious crime" (police jargon) that worries most of us. The frontline police are frustrated and feel that they do not get enough support to protect us against the things we really worry about. I intend to lobby strongly that East Dorset and particularly Wimborne gets the most of what resources are available.

Planning and the Environment is another important issue; in an ideal world the sun would shine every day, the village shop would be bustling and nothing would ever change. But, we have to be realists as change is inevitable – not change for change's sake, but for our commercial and residential well-being. This is how we all will prosper.

With regard to the important issue of Housing, I understand people's concern as I have a family still young enough to be making its way up in the world. I can't stress enough "affordable houses for local people", so we have to release land, however unpalatable that may be, to build affordable housing. Besides, where are you living? What was there before your house? Why shouldn't it be acceptable nowadays to use land when it didn't seem to be a problem when yours was built?
