OUR BELIEFS |
|||||||
In 2003 we proposed our "Vision for East Dorset". Along with our colleagues from across the district, Wimborne Conservatives are working hard to fulfill these promises and to make our district an even better place in which to live. We are meeting our pledges, despite ever-increasing and under-funded burdens placed on us by central government. We have made significant improvements in a number of services. For example, the kerbside recycling scheme has now reached over 92% of residents and we aim to reach 100% by 2010. We have continued to invest in our heritage with the refurbishment of the Grade II listed Allendale House, alongside major investments for the future with various community-related projects, including the development of youth-related facilities to ensure that our younger residents are well catered for and not frustrated, thereby turning to antisocial behaviour at the weekends. We have introduced two "demand-led" bus services as pilot schemes in the rural areas around Wimborne; our activists want to increase this and ensure that our transport links with the rest of the district are strong and easy to use, especially for our older residents. Wimborne Conservatives are also keen to ensure that value for money remains one of our top priorities and that council costs are constantly reviewed to maintain a comfortable lifestyle for all. We are particularly committed to maximising efficiency in the council offices and cutting back on bureaucracy.
Our activists all believe in active representation; this website is a gateway between Wimborne's residents and the people who can solve their problems and answer their questions. We believe in maintaining contact with all of our electorate throughout the four years and to always be easily reachable and responsive to any issue. By working together, we will continue to strive to ensure that Wimborne and East Dorset remains a desirable place to live, maintaining a quality of life of which we can all be proud. Our vision is all about "Making the Difference". |
