A Seasoned Campaigner
Michael Hodkinson has spent the last four years campaigning on behalf of local people. For three of the four years he has been Chairman of Wimborne Minster Town Council's Planning and Environment Committee. He says, "being chairman has given me a good insight into many of the problems and issues facing the town and its residents. I've campaigned and worked on a range of issues that have come up during my term of office."
In 2003 Michael began working with residents in East Borough and Chapel Lane to try to curb the "rat run" problem. After many surveys and meetings the County Council finally agreed to a scheme which will be implemented in two months time. He has also worked with residents in Victoria Road and St. Margaret's Hill which resulted in the installation of speed indication devices which warn motorists who are exceeding the 30mph limit.

Michael campaigned successfully to replace the bus shelter at the Gordon Road/Leigh Road junction. He also joined with local residents in a campaign to save the façade of Wimborne's historic Eclipse Works in New Borough Road.
Michael has also conducted a series of residents' surveys on important issues. These include traffic and parking problems in the St. Catherine's area and Parkwood Road and most recently a 500 household survey on whether or not a supermarket should be built on the cricket ground.
"The last four years have been a busy but enjoyable time. There are still many challenges facing Wimborne and I look forward to dealing with them," says Michael.
